Artist's Statement
I am a contemporary and visionary artist. A native of Boston, I
currently reside in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Throughout my life
my art has gone through many phases, including oil, pen and ink,
pastels, charcoal, pencil and watercolor. Presently, I am working
mostly with acrylic paints on canvas and paper.
Until twelve years ago I mainly created artwork with an objective
reality. I reached a point where I needed to expand my creativity, and
began to work spontaneously from within. I use a free-form
application of paint, and am open to whatever flows through my
consciousness. It amazes me how the images manifest with such
diversity. I look forward to each new experience.
Although the greater part of my artwork is abstract, lately I find myself
enjoying the use of more objectivity. Occasionally I paint without
using brushes or tools to create pure, untouched visions that reflect
ocean scenes, landscapes, or cosmic spaces. I call this type of
painting “Innerscapes.”
I hope that you will enjoy my artwork, and find it to be a contemplative
and uplifting experience.
